Projects: group chats around shared context
What a project is
A project groups conversations with written instructions, knowledge files and a memory scope. When answering in a project, AGI can use its instructions, relevant knowledge passages and eligible memories. Retrieval and context limits can leave some material out.
Create one
Open the projects page and choose New to create a project with a name. Add an optional description in Project settings. Settings include:
- Description: what the project is for.
- Instructions: context and how AGI should respond here, for example "Respond in Spanish. Reference the latest documentation. Keep answers short."
- Memory: "Use memories from outside this project" controls whether account-wide remembered facts are eligible alongside project memories. When off in a project you own, memory and past-chat lookup are limited to that project. Memory and past-chat settings still apply. Account instructions and style have separate project switches.
- Files: documents whose extracted passages can provide context for a reply. Some passages or files may be left out.
Add sources
Add sources takes files from your device and text you paste or type. Google Drive is listed there too; adding a file from it requires the Google Drive connector. Connecting Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar and other apps is coming soon.
You may see Indexing for search, Keyword search only or Not indexed beside a file. Keyword search matches words rather than using semantic search.
Shared projects
A shared project can show the sources you have access to. If its sources panel is empty, it says the owner has not added any sources yet and that only they can add or remove them. The sources panel does not offer shared readers upload or delete controls.
Duplicate and delete
A project can be duplicated, which copies its setup into a new project. Delete project asks for confirmation before sending the deletion request.
Limits
How many projects and how much knowledge storage you get depends on your plan. The pricing page carries the current figures.
