Crisis and self-harm resources
If you are in danger now
AGI is software. It is not a crisis service, and it cannot call for help or send anyone to you. If you or someone near you is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number now.
Who to call
United States. Call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or chat at chat.988lifeline.org. The service describes itself as free, confidential and open at all hours. To text in Spanish, send AYUDA to 988.
India. Call Tele MANAS on 14416, or on 1-800-891-4416. It is a toll-free helpline of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, open at all hours, and you choose your language when you call.
Anywhere else. findahelpline.com lists free helplines by country. The International Association for Suicide Prevention points to the same directory. If you cannot find a line for your country, call your local emergency number or go to the nearest hospital.
We checked these numbers against the services' own pages on 7 October 2026. Numbers change. If one does not connect, use the service's own website.
What AGI does when a message is about self-harm
Nothing special, and you should know that before you rely on it.
- AGI has no feature that detects a message about suicide or self-harm.
- A chat shows no crisis banner, helpline number or pop-up.
- A message about self-harm alerts no person at AGI.
- The model you picked answers under its provider's own safety rules. What it says, and whether it mentions a helpline, differs from one model to another.
One setting touches this subject. Reduce sensitive content, in Settings under Safety, is off unless you turn it on. When it is on, AGI refuses a short list of explicit or harmful how-to prompts before they reach a Managed Cloud model, and requests for suicide or self-harm methods are on that list. The refusal says the content is unavailable while the setting is on. It shows no helpline.
What the rules say
The acceptable use policy does not allow using AGI to encourage, instruct or glorify suicide, self-harm or disordered eating. Asking for help and talking about how you feel are allowed.
Not medical advice
Nothing a model writes is medical or mental-health advice. The disclaimer explains the limits of model output. For a decision about your health, talk to a qualified professional.
