Artifacts: documents and code AGI writes for you
What an artifact is
When an answer produces a document, a piece of code or a rendered page rather than a paragraph, it opens as an artifact in a panel beside the conversation. The panel can be opened and closed from the conversation, or with Shift+Cmd/Ctrl+A, and has a fullscreen view. The header keeps the title, a version stepper, Copy, Publish and the fullscreen and close buttons in view (on a narrow panel Publish moves under More); everything else (download, duplicate, refresh, open in a new tab, save to a project or the Library) is under More, which works with the arrow keys and closes with Escape.
Editing one
Edits you make in the panel are saved as new versions, and earlier versions can be restored. Request edits on a rendered page lets you click an element in the preview and describe the change; it is sent as a normal message that names the element, and the reply becomes the next version. Duplicate makes an independent copy, confirmed with "Duplicated. Edits here no longer touch the original." Save to project files it into a project's knowledge.
If someone else changed the same artifact first, the panel keeps your work and says so: their version is shown and your edit is kept as the latest version. Nothing is silently discarded.
Getting a copy out
Copy artifact puts the source on the clipboard. Download file and Download image save it. From the Library, an artifact exports as PDF or Word.
Publishing
Publishing an artifact gives it a link. The audience works like a shared conversation: anyone with the link, or your workspace only, and the panel confirms which is in force. Changing it later asks first ("Make this public again?", "Limit this to your workspace?").
Settings holds a Published artifacts list with Unpublish on each one. Unpublishing stops the link working.
When a preview will not render
"Inline preview unavailable" or "Image preview unavailable" means the panel cannot render that content in place, not that the artifact is damaged. Download it and open it locally.
