Plans, upgrading, and cancelling
Where billing lives
Settings, Billing shows your current plan, when the period renews or ends, your payment method and your invoices. Manage billing opens the billing portal where the card and the subscription itself are changed.
Upgrading
Upgrade plan lists the plans available to you. On the Free plan choosing one goes to checkout when paid upgrades are open to your account; while they are not, it opens the upgrade waitlist instead: join the waitlist, or enter an access code to continue to checkout. Your place on a plan's waitlist is kept with your account, so the website and the desktop app show it wherever you sign in. When paid upgrades open, everyone on a waitlist gets a notice in Notifications, and the confirmation you see after joining says whether we also email you. Joining does not start a subscription, and when upgrades open for your account, choosing the plan again takes you to checkout. Once an account has redeemed an access code, choosing a plan opens checkout directly. While upgrades are not open, checkout is refused to an account that has not redeemed a code. On a plan you already pay for the access step does not apply, and an upgrade shows what it will cost and waits for you to confirm before anything is charged.
An upgrade takes effect straight away and starts a new billing period that day: you pay the new plan's price, minus a credit for the unused time on your current plan, and your renewal date moves to the day you upgrade. Adding seats to a Team plan keeps the renewal date and charges only for the rest of the current period.
Local mode and BYOK are free and need no plan at all. Managed cloud plans differ in usage capacity and in which features they include: projects, concurrent responses, sandboxes and scheduled tasks all scale with the plan, as do custom MCP connections and connector tools. The pricing page carries the current prices, regional prices and per-plan limits, and adds the connector limits once connectors are open. Connectors are coming soon.
Team seat types
A Team plan sells two seat types on one subscription, Standard and Premium, and one team can hold both. A Premium seat carries the usage limits and model access of Max 5x, which is five times the usage of a Standard seat, and keeps every Team feature.
Seat types are set in Settings, Team. An owner or admin can assign a Premium seat the team already pays for and has not assigned, at no extra charge. Only the workspace owner can make a change that alters the bill. Moving a member to Premium when no paid Premium seat is free charges the difference for the rest of the current period straight away and keeps the renewal date. Moving a member back to Standard bills the Standard price from the next renewal: the current period is not refunded, and the member keeps Premium usage until it ends.
Premium seats are priced in US dollars only. The pricing page carries the price of each seat type.
Monthly and yearly billing
Basic, Pro, Max 5x and Max 20x are billed monthly only; Team can be billed monthly or yearly.
If you already pay yearly for Pro, nothing changes. Your subscription keeps its price and renews yearly until you switch to monthly or cancel. Once you switch to monthly, yearly billing is no longer available for that plan.
Switch to monthly billing in Settings, Billing makes the switch when your yearly term ends. Upgrading to Max 5x or Max 20x moves you to that plan's monthly price straight away, and the unused part of your year is credited toward future invoices.
Cancelling
On a plan billed through the web, Cancel plan in Settings, Billing opens the billing portal at the cancellation flow. Once cancellation is scheduled the period row changes from "Renews on" to "Cancels on", and access continues to that date.
Subscriptions bought in an app store
If the subscription was bought through Apple or Google, AGI cannot change it. The page says so and points you at the store: "Change or cancel this subscription with Apple before starting web billing", and the equivalent for Google Play. Cancel there first if you want to move to web billing.
Plans your organization pays for
On a workspace-managed plan the controls are read-only: "This plan is managed by your organization. Contact an administrator to change it", and invoices are provided by the organization rather than shown here.
Invoices
Invoices appear once you are billed on a paid plan. Before the first cycle closes the list says so rather than showing an error.
When billing will not let you change plans
- "Billing ownership is not verified. Refresh your account before changing plans." Reload and sign in again.
- "Resolve the current billing status in Manage billing before changing plans." A renewal payment failed. Paid features stay off until it succeeds; there is no grace period. In Settings, Billing, pay the open invoice or update your payment method.
